My electronic device has stopped working, has crashed, or won't do anything
By electronic device, we mean computer, printer, phone, tablet, laptop, payment terminal, or any other device that you use.
If it's on, and looks like it should be working but it's stopped doing what it usually does, it may need a simple reset.
- Turn the device off using the usual method (shutdown, switch if off etc)
- Once it has shutdown, or If that cannot be done, locate the plug that goes into the wall socket and turn the socket off.
- Wait at least 60 seconds, then turn it back on again.
- Turn on the device or appliance that you were using.
- Try to do what you were trying to do when you found it unresponsive.
If that has fixed it - great, our work is done. You need take no further action.
